And we harvested.... Part 1

The past few weeks we were able to  harvest some of our produce and most of our potatoes.

The blackberry are all ripening and the cherry tomatoes just started turning red. The green container has soybeans which we harvested to make the edamame.

If you red my yellow squash post you will know about the tobacco solution that I was talking about. It is the main reason why I have so many squashes this year.

I made a delicious berry compote with the black berries. It goes well with Vanilla ice cream. If you are interested let me know, I will post the recipe.

We also had Okra and corn. Okra or Ladies finger, I have the red and green variety and I also planted a dwarf variety this year. My favorite is the regular long green okra.

The purple beans are called Italian heirloom beans and they are the twice the size of normal beans.

I harvested corn a little early as we have a lot of squirrels here. They ate all my soybeans that I left for seeds next year. Now if I want to plant next year I am left with no options but to buy the soybean seedlings from home depot garden center. I remember them costing about $3.5 for about 6 plants and I planted them in May.

Not bad for a city gardener, right? :-)

Stay tuned for Part II.
